ARMY VETERAN | COWBOY | LAND & LIVESTOCK GURU
Brodrick Norman always had a love for land and livestock and some good ol’ fashion Texas ranch life but didn’t know that after his FFA (Future Farmers of America) days in high school, he’d come full circle to form Black Knight Cattle Company. In 1987, our founder, Brodrick Norman, found his passion for cattle when he used his calf scramble certificate from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to purchase his first Registered Fullblood Limousin Heifer. During the 1988 show season, he then purchased and showed another heifer. It wasn’t until several decades later that he realized it was time for this deep-rooted passion to take its first steps to the next level. What was once a hobby, was actually destined to evolve into a full-fledged operation and Black Knight Cattle Company was born.
Brodrick is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he played Varsity football for the Black Knights. He served in the Army in the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division as a Signal Officer where he obtained the Parachutist and Air Assault Badge. He then attended graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Master’s of Business Administration in Finance on a fully funded fellowship.
Following graduate school, he worked on Wall Street as an institutional currency broker advising hedge funds, pension funds, and institutional traders. In 2008, he co-founded a trading program that was ranked as one of the “Top 10 Funds Under $10 Million”. In 2012, Brodrick’s career shifted to real estate which led him to start LandKey, a Texas-based rural land investment and development company. Today, the heart and soul of land and cattle unite, as Black Knight Cattle Company’s herd of elite Limousin and Lim-Flex cattle join the family of brands.
